Holiday Outfit: Buy It or Rent It?

image: fashionwindows.net

As the holidays near, most of us already know of X amount of holiday parties we will be invited to as well as the traditional family gatherings we will need to attend. That means having the right outfits.

The prospect of going out without my kids is enough to make me want to do a cartwheel. I need to look fabulous. Not to many occasions arise throughout the year that merit a sparkly, sexy, but stylish dress to impress my hubby with or simply feel all grown up in. And the end of the year festivities, topped off by the New Year's parties around the world is the best excuse to shop for a new outfit.

But having the right outfit means, multiple outfits for every occasion. After all, you wouldn't wear that sexy cocktail dress to your office or family holiday party.

Want the knock-out dress without the knock-out price? You have options.

Carlos Miele (Retail $2,750)
Rent it for $350
TIBI (Retail $572)
Rent it for $75
ADAM (Retail $495)
Rent it $85

The good news is you don't have to shop your closet to save $. You can wear a designer dress right off the runway for 10% of the price.

How? Rent it.
I was cruising the Internet looking for cocktail dresses when I ran across RentTheRunway. They have over 40,000 dresses in inventory for you to pick. Wear it and return it when your done. For more on how this works, see the clip below.

Prefer to go the traditional route and buy your dress? Here are some holiday outfit options as well.
