Hair Make Over - Before & After

10/5/12 - Cut Hair
"Before"
A serious comeback...
My "Before" picture (above) is evidence of the shapeless overused mop I called hair.

A little short of six month ago, I cut 5" off my hair. Why not? It was dead, flat lined after the birth of my second son. Thinner, brittle and lifeless, I handed my friend a pair of scissors and told her to cut it off.

I pumped life back into my hair with a three step process:
1) Dietary Hair Supplement, 2) Oil for Luminosity, 3) Deep Conditioning Treatment
(click on the link above for product details & benefits)

April 2013 - "After"
A new me

Six month later, my hair has made a full recovery. It looks and feels absolutely great. Full bodied, thicker and with an extra spring and luster to every curl, I'm overjoyed.

*Extra Tip:
If you're losing hair and it's not due to natural causes (stopped breast feeding etc.) try nuts or Flax seed Meal  (a great source of Omega-3). Nuts - Brazil nuts are one of nature's best sources of selenium, an important mineral for the health of your scalp. Walnuts contain alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid that may help condition your hair. They are also a terrific source of zinc, as are cashews, pecans, and almonds. A zinc deficiency can lead to hair shedding, so make sure nuts are a regular on your healthy hair menu.

This one found at Trader Joe's is great. You can mix it into a shake or cereal.

Today's Look: First Day of Spring

Today's outfit:
1. Orange Wrap Scarf
2. Laundry by Shelli Segal - Contrast Trim Ponte Blazer
3. MEK Denim - Blue white wash
First Day of Spring... I swear our outfits were not planned today. Totally spontaneous.

My oldest son and I woke up to the same tune it seems, craving navy blue and a nice bright color. He must of read my Spring Picks 2013 post. I think in terms of color (my mood), comfort (ease of mobility) and practicality when putting an outfit together.

Today's Outfit:
Clip-on Tie - Children's Place
Polo Shirt - Nautica
Navy Blue Thermal - Gap Kids
Embroidered Skull Pants - Children's Place
Alligator Blue Rain boots - Western Chief

He thinks in terms of what makes him happy and taking control of his daily wears (away from me) works.

His own personal stylist, he coordinated this outfit and dressed himself.

Ties with T-shirts and polos (anything he can clip it on is a candidate) are his bag. He prefers bright colors (wonder where he got that from?) and is infatuated with his rain boots. He will wear them in any weather condition.

As for me...
Later tonight at Tae Kwon Do
1. The Orange scarf is multifunctional. It's on trend for Spring (check out Spring Picks for 2013) and adds personality & style to my outfit while keeping me warm.

2. The Ponte Blazer is an elastic polyester fabric that is soft like cotton but gives way to movement for a super comfortable fit.

3. MEK Denim Jeans - my favorite. I can honestly say, these are the most comfortable jeans I've had in years. I can literally sleep in them.

Spring Picks 2013

Fresh air, warm sunshine and higher temperatures remind us why we love to take the layers off, lighten the load for Spring and get ready for what's coming around the corner...summer fun!
Spring 2013 (image: Tommy Ton)

After eyeing the array of colors, prints and accessory choices out for Spring 2013, here are my top Spring picks for today's Estilo Mum, who needs to keep it fresh but manageable for the 101 tasks that need to be accomplished.

1. Printed Denim & Skinny Jeans
Still on trend. Skinny jeans are here to stay. I saw this pair of Else jeans at Macy's and it fit and looked fantastic. I'm actually wearing them today.

Today, wearing Else Jeans
with silver studded Sugar high tops.

If you love the Joe Brand, then you'll have to try it's less expensive sibling; Else jeans.

Exclusively sold at Macy's, the Else product offering includes five staple denim fits: skinny, boot cut, cropped, boyfriend and cuffed short.

2. Watercolor & Floral prints

Vans, Spring 2013

I'm not the floral print type, but I surprised myself when I fell in love with the color & print of the Else jeans. This Spring's foral prints are everywhere. Pants, dresses, and shoes look so fresh and the bright colors are an instant pick-me up.

3. Electric Blue & Orange Zeal

If bold colors are not a part of your wardrobe, this is the perfect time to give them a try. Blue or Orange? Pick one color & then one piece (it can be a top or bottom, a pair of shoes or a bag) that best suits your personality and go!  I guarantee you'll love it.

Here are some of my favorite electric blue & orange pics.

4. Blazer: The trend - Oversize it

Warmer, yet still cooler than summer, Spring temperatures make the Blazer's functionality great for dressing up or styling out a more down-to-earth outfit.

Blazer styles to covet for Spring & cool summer nights:

  • Nautical navy blue blazer. I have one and wear it with jeans and a white T-shirt or tank. But this Sunday I wore it with a pleated white skirt & orange tank. Great versatility & comfort.

  • Crisp White Blazer. So fresh and bright white. Will go with anything.
