Personal Style: October Punk

Continuously changing and evolving with time, my personal style is more ME than it's ever been. The more I let go of the preconceived notions of how I should look, dress and express myself for my given age, the better I feel about myself. I am free when I simply do not care whether I fit in or not, and just go with MY flow. What makes ME feel good (inside & out) and keeps me in good spirit is really the only thing that matters.

You're probably thinking I sound very selfish about now. It's true, but it is my very selfishness that makes my family happy. I learned something a long time ago. Before I can make anybody happy, I need to make myself happy. And today I am a very happy woman/ mother.

Today, I am:

1. Healthy and fit. Thankfully, I've always been healthy, but getting fit again after two babies was the biggest personal challenge I've faced. I'll expand on this in another post. 
2. Super stylish because I want to be. Even if it means I'm the only mother in my son's class wearing heels sometimes. This makes me happy.
3. A stay-at-home mom. A challenge unto itself. But one I was able to happily transition into since I had no pressure to leave my career to stay home with the kids. This decision slowly came of my own will, in it's own time, so there are no regrets.

So what's my personal style now? After a five year roller coaster ride of jumping up and down the size chart, I'm feeling a little rebellious. A little punk like Gwen Stefani with some ladylike touches thrown in for fun. In my mid 30's I'm back to liking spike studded bracelets and skulls. High-top sneakers and lots of skinny jeans. Bold colors and leather....yes, I'm going to find a way to fit back into my leather pieces of yore. And lots of stackable jewelry.
